A friend of mine on my motorcycle forum (https://www.thesabrehood.org) has a Harley-Davidson Road Glide and asked me to put some regular bars on it and make it blue. I haven’t stitched it out yet so this is a computer screen snapshot of what it will look like. It will look better when it’s stitched out and I’ll replace this picture with an actual scan of the finished item. I can change the colors, add accessories, change the air filter cover etc. All I need is a picture to work from. The accents are separate items so they can be any color or moved or removed.
A Suzuki M109R Customer had a special request. “Can you do my friends Harley-Davidson Road Glide but do it in Burgundy and chrome where it’s supposed to be?”. I checked out the photo and said yes. It took me about 8 hours of digitizing because I had to start from scratch and the Harley engine is fully exposed, unlike a Honda Goldwing. I emailed him the screen shot of the digitized result and he said for for it. I’m in the process of embroidering 8 backpatches for his friends that ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles. I did the best I could to capture all the detail of the custom wheels and the engine etc. It has apes on it so they look kinda wierd, but thats what the picture looks like. You can see the picture and the result below.
I plan on adding the other popular Harley-Davidson motorcycle models over the next few months. Each one will take a long time to do as I believe in as much detail as possible. If I wouldn’t pay for it or wear it, I don’t expect anyone else to either!
In order to be able to do quality motorcycle embroidery where I can scale the image up or down and not lose any stitch density, I have to digitize the image myself. I could send a picture off to one of the digitizing houses and they would send me back a file thats a specific size and I would be able to scale up or down maybe 20% before the embroidery quality suffers. The goal of a good digitizing file is that there are as few color changes as possible and as few color stops as possible. A color stop is where the embroidery machine will tie off the stitch and then cut the thread. It’s much more efficient to have embroidery that stitches, does a running stitch to the next area and then lays down more embroidery stitches and so forth. It’s very time consuming to get a perfectly digitized embroidery file, but with practice and some planning before starting the job, it can be done. When you want to get your motorcycle done in embroidery, you want to have someone who can make changes as your motorcycle changes!
MOTORCYCLE EMBROIDERY DIGITIZING ADVANTAGES
When you have the digitizing file, it’s easier to make changes such as adding a backrest, adding chrome trim pieces, changing the pipes etc. This allows Dry Heat Embroidery to do true CUSTOM MOTORCYCLE EMBROIDERY and not just simple color changes and text changes. Thats not custom, thats changing a thread color. When you want to make your embroidery reflect your pride in your motorcycle, car, boat, whatever it may be.. you want CUSTOM MOTORCYCLE EMBROIDERY from Dry Heat Embroidery.
Part of the Biker Culture is expressing ourselves with embroidery patches all over our vests and jackets. It’s not that we’re covering up holes or defects (normally at least.. but maybe we’re covering up a Harley-Davidson patch and we ride a Goldwing) but it’s that as a group of people that believe in freedom on the road and in our lives, we have a lot to say, and we can say it with Biker Patches. Embroidery patches look better than hanging a bunch of Badge-A-Minut round metal badges on our ride gear. The badges would be flapping around in the wind and would come loose and hurt someone.
So what Kind of Patches Should I Look For?
When you’re looking for embroidery patches to put on your ride gear, make sure the patch says something about what you believe or about you. I have to laugh when I see vests for sale that already have Biker Patches all over it.. like BUY THIS VEST AND IT WILL MAKE YOU A COOL BIKER! At Dry Heat Embroidery, we don’t have any pre-made patches, we make every patch to order so you can specify what colors you want, what text you want and you can make it YOURS! There are plenty of great patches out there that will fit many bikers and their outlook on life, but when you want to step out from the crowd, have a custom patch made.
Examples of some of the Biker Patches from Dry Heat Embroidery
Here are some of the patches we’ve made for bikers. Some are embroidered patches of their bikes, or something about their bike that they want to highlight. Others are statements of how they feel about something.
There are many more patches available in my online store as well as embroidered polo shirts, Dickies style work shirts and hats.
Goldwing Trikes: I’ve been spending lots of time digitizing some GL1800 Goldwing Trikes for my riding brothers and sisters since there aren’t a lot of embroidery sources out there for them for patches, shirts, hats etc. It takes me an average of around 7 hours to digitize a new manufacturers Goldwing Trike. Because I digitize the Trikes myself, I have full control over what color the Trikes are and what accessories I can put on them to match the customers Trike.
About Our Goldwing Trikes Embroidery
The GL1800 Trikes on shirt backs are about 10″ long and at an angle to show the trike seating and profile. Here’s some pictures of some of the recent embroidery that we’ve done, GL1800 trike shirts, Goldwing trike patches and GL1800 trike hats with shirts.

Custom Embroidery For Your Patches, Hats, Shirts and More!
This blog section will feature pictures from our new projects and discussion of embroidery issues and how we overcame them. Our customer base is growing all the time as we add custom embroidery files for more and more brands, styles and items. We do all of our digitizing in house, meaning that we digitize from your idea or picture and then we can modify the file any way you want. If you want it bigger, smaller, change the colors, move items around, we can do it because we have the embroidery vector file, not just the embroidery stitch file. Most embroidery shops pay others to do the digitizing and they can’t do anything but change colors on your patches, hats, or shirts. At Dry Heat Embroidery, when we say “CUSTOM” we mean “CUSTOM“.. not one size fits all change the color or some text and thats what you have to settle for.
